What You’ll Do
- Prepare US individual income tax returns (Form 1040), including supporting schedules such as Schedule A, B, C, D, and E
- Assist with preparation of corporate tax returns (Form 1120) as experience allows
- Perform bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and month-end close for client files
- Gather and review client documentation, identifying missing information and following up as needed
- Prepare work papers and financial statements to support tax filings
- Stay current on US tax law changes and filing requirements
- Communicate professionally with clients and collaborate with senior staff on reviews
What You Bring
- 2+ years of US accounting or tax experience
- Demonstrated experience preparing Form 1040 returns (required)
- Experience with Form 1120 corporate returns (strong asset)
- Familiarity with tax software (such as CCH Axcess, Drake, UltraTax, or Lacerte)
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting platforms
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, especially during busy season
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Nice to Have
- Experience with Forms 1120-S, 1065, or state returns
- Experience with Canadian T1 and T2 returns
- Progress toward a CPA, EA, or CPA (Canada) designation
- Experience working with cross-border or remote clients
